After defining spatio-climatic devices on a theoretical basis, we ventured to Paris this summer. The “lessons learned” from the heat wave of exceptional intensity in August 2003 with 15,000 victims in Paris (Fouillet et al., 2006), led to map out all principal urban freshness islands.
